MTN Group has done some strategic shake-up in its top executive, which has seen the roles of Ghana’s Selorm Adadevoh expanded to include the role of Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, while Ebenezer Asante moves from Senior Vice President (SVP), Markets, to the become Vice President of Ghana, Southern and East Africa.
Until now, Selorm was the chief commercial officer (CMO), a role he assumed in December 2023 and has since performed very creditably at, leading the Group’s digital services strategy.
In this recent reshuffle, the group’s current chief strategy and transformation officer, Chika Ekeji moves to focus on emerging business opportunities.
Selorm was the longest-serving MTN Ghana CEO. During his six-year tenure in Ghana, the company faced some of the toughest regulatory hurdles, and yet it saw the biggest all round growth and transformation over the period.
His move to the group executive did not come as a surprise to many. In fact, many industry watchers have tipped him for the role of group CEO in the future. The expansion of his portfolio in less than two years is testament to the prediction that Selorm is on his way to the group’s top job.
Eben on the other hand, was also the MTN Ghana CEO who handed over to Selorm and assumed the role of Group SVP. He held various portfolios before becoming SVP, Markets a few years back. But not is VP of Ghana, Southern and East Africa.
Meanwhile, the CEO of MTN South Africa, Charles Molapisi is also returning to his previous job as the group’s CTIO (chief technology and information officer).
The move comes as MTN divides its group CTIO and digital infrastructure roles. Current incumbent of both Mazen Mroue retains responsibility for the latter though takes on a wider remit within that digital infrastructure banner.
MTN Nigeria CEO Karl Toriola will also have VP Francophone Africa added to his portfolio.
Another change at group level will see CFO Tsholofelo Molefe’s responsibilities extended to include M&A (mergers and acquisitions) activity.
MTN also unveiled other changes impacting operating units across its footprint due to the changing make-up of its international operations.
Current MTN VP for Southern and East Africa Yolanda Cuba is set to become deputy CEO of MTN South Africa.
VP Middle East and North Africa Ismail Jaroudi moves to VP of special projects alongside being CEO of MTN Dubai.
All executive team changes are effective 1 November 2025.
Ambition beyond 2025
