The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called on Ghanaian chief executive officers and entrepreneurs to support a government-led employment initiative aimed at assisting Ghanaians being evacuated from South Africa.

‎‎In a brief communiqué posted on his Facebook page, Mr Ablakwa appealed to the private sector to help provide job opportunities for returning citizens as part of efforts to facilitate their reintegration into society.

‎‎According to the Minister, the initiative has already secured 120 job offers for affected individuals, signalling what he described as a strong start to the programme.

‎‎“We urge Ghanaian CEOs and entrepreneurs to support our jobs initiative for our brothers and sisters being evacuated from South Africa,” Mr Ablakwa stated.

‎He encouraged businesses willing to participate in the programme to contact the Ministry’s Delivery Unit to offer employment opportunities and other forms of support.

‎The appeal forms part of the government’s broader efforts to ensure that Ghanaians returning from South Africa are able to rebuild their lives and secure sustainable livelihoods upon their arrival home.

‎‎Mr Ablakwa expressed confidence that the country’s business community would respond positively to the call, emphasising Ghana’s longstanding commitment to caring for its citizens in times of need.

‎‎“Ghana always cares,” he wrote, concluding his message with the nationalistic phrase, “For God and Country.”

‎The employment initiative is expected to complement ongoing arrangements being made for the safe evacuation and resettlement of the affected Ghanaians.
