MTN Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and customer trust following a public engagement aimed at addressing concerns over data consumption and billing practices.
The telco giant recently convened a high-level panel discussion that brought together customer representatives, regulatory authorities, independent auditors and company officials to scrutinise issues surrounding data usage and charges.
Described by the company as a candid and robust session, the forum featured a prosecution team representing the interests of millions of subscribers, alongside a defence team representing MTN Nigeria.
The proceedings also involved regulators, auditors and other stakeholders who examined claims and concerns about alleged data depletion.
According to MTN Nigeria, the session provided an opportunity to address customer doubts and questions using verifiable data and factual evidence.
Speaking during the engagement, MTN Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Karl Toriola, assured customers that the company does not deliberately manipulate data consumption.
“MTN will never deliberately shortchange you on your data consumption,” Toriola stated, underscoring the operator’s commitment to fairness and accountability.
The company said the exercise formed part of its broader efforts to strengthen trust with customers through open dialogue and transparency. It noted that customer confidence has played a significant role in its growth and success over the years.
MTN Nigeria expressed appreciation to its subscribers for their continued trust and loyalty, pledging to maintain honest and transparent conversations on issues affecting customer experience.
The telecommunications provider added that it remains committed to engaging stakeholders and addressing consumer concerns through fact-based discussions and independent scrutiny.
The session concluded with presentations and discussions aimed at shedding more light on how data is measured, consumed and billed, as the company sought to reassure customers about the integrity of its systems and processes.
