The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has deepened its collaboration with industry stakeholders through a strategic engagement with registered service providers and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Engineering (MEPE) practitioners in Accra.

‎The meeting, which brought together key players in the fire safety and engineering sectors, was aimed at introducing stakeholders to the Automated Fire Compliance and Safety System (AFCAS), a platform designed to improve operational efficiency and strengthen adherence to fire safety regulations across the country.

‎‎Discussions centred on practical measures to enhance cooperation in the design, installation, inspection and maintenance of fire safety systems.

‎Participants also explored ways of promoting best engineering practices, improving compliance with established fire safety codes and reducing the occurrence of fire outbreaks in residential, commercial and industrial facilities.

‎‎According to the GNFS, the engagement forms part of its ongoing efforts to foster stronger partnerships with stakeholders whose work directly contributes to fire prevention and public safety. The Service emphasised the importance of collaboration in ensuring that fire safety standards are effectively integrated into the country’s built environment.

‎‎Management of the GNFS noted that the introduction of AFCAS represents a significant step towards modernising fire safety compliance processes and improving monitoring mechanisms across various sectors.

‎‎The Service expressed confidence that the strengthened collaboration with service providers and MEPE practitioners would contribute to improved building safety standards, enhanced regulatory compliance and more effective fire risk management nationwide.

‎The initiative is expected to support broader national efforts to create safer communities through proactive fire prevention measures and sustained stakeholder engagement, while reinforcing the GNFS’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
