The Accra High Court has granted bail to the Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, pending trial.
The development was disclosed on Facebook by Kwasi Botchway Jnr, who announced that the Accra High Court (General Jurisdiction Division 2) admitted the outspoken politician to bail on Thursday morning.

According to the statement, the bail application was moved by lawyers from Nkrumah & Associates, led by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, with support from former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame. The prosecution, led by Justice Srem-Sai, reportedly did not oppose the application.
The Court subsequently granted bail to Abronye on a number of conditions, including a bail sum of GH¢100,000 with two justified sureties.
As part of the conditions, the accused person is required to report to the Police Criminal Investigations Department once every two weeks. He is also expected to surrender all travel documents to the registry of the court and is barred from travelling outside the jurisdiction without prior approval from the court registrar.
Sources close to the legal team indicated that efforts were underway to satisfy the bail conditions by noon in order to secure his release by the close of day.
The statement further expressed appreciation to the 2024 NPP Presidential Candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, for what was described as his unwavering support and constant concern throughout Abronye’s incarceration.
Abronye’s case has attracted significant political attention in recent days, with supporters of the NPP closely monitoring proceedings at the court.
