Ant International, the financial technology company backed by Alibaba Group, has secured approximately US$1.2 billion in an equity financing round to accelerate the global expansion of its cross-border payments business and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered commerce solutions.
The company announced that the funding round attracted participation from existing shareholders, including Ant Group and Alibaba Group, alongside a number of international investment institutions.
Ant International said the proceeds will be used to strengthen its international operations and accelerate innovation across merchant payments, account management and financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as large businesses.
The Singapore- and Shanghai-based company has been operating independently since 2024 and has expanded its presence across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.
As part of its growth strategy, Ant International is increasing its investment in AI-enabled technologies to improve cross-border commerce and enhance financial services for businesses operating in international markets.
The company operates four core business platforms—Alipay+, Antom, WorldFirst and Bettr—which provide cross-border payment, treasury management and financial technology services. These platforms are increasingly incorporating AI capabilities to streamline payments, optimise financial operations and support global merchants.
The latest capital injection is expected to strengthen Ant International’s position in the rapidly growing global fintech market, where demand for digital payment infrastructure and AI-driven business solutions continues to rise.
