Ant International, the financial technology company backed by Alibaba Group, has secured approximately US$1.2 billion in an equity financing round to accelerate the global expansion of its cross-border payments business and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered commerce solutions.

‎The company announced that the funding round attracted participation from existing shareholders, including Ant Group and Alibaba Group, alongside a number of international investment institutions.

‎‎Ant International said the proceeds will be used to strengthen its international operations and accelerate innovation across merchant payments, account management and financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as large businesses.

‎The Singapore- and Shanghai-based company has been operating independently since 2024 and has expanded its presence across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.

‎‎As part of its growth strategy, Ant International is increasing its investment in AI-enabled technologies to improve cross-border commerce and enhance financial services for businesses operating in international markets.

‎‎The company operates four core business platforms—Alipay+, Antom, WorldFirst and Bettr—which provide cross-border payment, treasury management and financial technology services. These platforms are increasingly incorporating AI capabilities to streamline payments, optimise financial operations and support global merchants.

‎The latest capital injection is expected to strengthen Ant International’s position in the rapidly growing global fintech market, where demand for digital payment infrastructure and AI-driven business solutions continues to rise.
