Nvidia has disclosed a 9.3 per cent stake in AI cloud infrastructure company Nebius, reinforcing its commitment to expanding the global artificial intelligence ecosystem through strategic investments in cloud computing providers.

‎A regulatory filing showed that Nvidia holds approximately 22.26 million shares in the Amsterdam-based company, including shares tied to a warrant obtained as part of its US$2 billion investment announced earlier this year.

‎The filing also revealed that Nvidia is prohibited from exercising the warrant before 11 September. Following the disclosure, Nebius shares rose about three per cent in after-hours trading.

‎‎Nebius, an AI-focused cloud infrastructure provider spun off from search engine company Yandex, is positioning itself as a major player in the rapidly growing market for AI computing capacity. The company has set an ambitious target of building more than five gigawatts of computing capacity by the end of 2030 to meet rising demand for AI workloads.

‎‎Earlier this year, Nebius entered into a strategic partnership with Nvidia, strengthening its access to the chipmaker’s advanced AI hardware and technologies.

‎‎The investment forms part of Nvidia’s broader strategy to support companies building the infrastructure needed to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption worldwide. As demand for AI computing continues to surge, the semiconductor giant has expanded its investments across the AI ecosystem, including cloud infrastructure providers and data centre operators.

‎‎Nebius is also one of Nvidia’s customers, purchasing the company’s AI chips to power its cloud computing services.

‎‎Alongside CoreWeave, Nebius belongs to a new generation of fast-growing “neocloud” companies—specialised cloud providers focused on delivering large-scale computing infrastructure tailored for artificial intelligence applications. These firms have attracted significant investor interest as technology companies race to secure the computing power required for increasingly sophisticated AI models.

‎‎Nvidia’s latest disclosure underscores its strategy of combining hardware leadership with targeted investments in companies that are helping to build the next generation of AI infrastructure.
