Apple has launched a new app called “Invites” that enables users to create custom invitations, RSVP, contribute to Shared Albums, and curate event soundtracks, requiring an iCloud+ subscription.
Apple Invites, which is similar to Partiful, a popular third-party app, will compete with startups like Posh and other services like Evite, Paperless Post, and Sendo Invitations, aiming to replicate Partiful’s functionality.
Apple Invites allows users to create invitations with photos from their library or gallery, integrates with Maps and Weather, and allows guests to contribute photos and videos to a Shared Album, and features a collaborative playlist for guests.
Apple’s Image Playground allows users to create unique event invitations in the new app, using original images, while Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools allows for invitation composition.
Hosts can manage events, share invitations, and review RSVPs, with the option to display event background or home address details in an invite preview.
Conversely guests can view and respond to invitations via the app or web, control their information visibility, and leave or report events.
“With Apple Invites, an event comes to life from the moment the invitation is created, and users can share lasting memories even after they get together,” said Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud, in a press release.
“Apple Invites brings together capabilities our users already know and love across iPhone, iCloud, and Apple Music, making it easy to plan special events.”
