Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has called for sustained investment in national education, skills development and technology to prepare students for future challenges.
Speaking at the MTN-UG Tekyerema Pa AI Hackathon 2026 — MoU signing in Accra, Dr Apaak argued that education must go beyond political ambitions and focus on developing the skills needed to support national development.
He stressed the importance of improving performance, quality and excellence in education, while creating opportunities for students to apply their knowledge to practical challenges.
Dr Apaak said the connection between education and technology was particularly important, noting that students, including those in engineering, must be prepared to contribute to future solutions.
He also highlighted the need for continued education reform and investment, suggesting that such efforts could strengthen the country’s capacity to respond to modern challenges.
According to him, the progress made in national education must be sustained through deliberate efforts to promote skills and technological development.
The Deputy Minister further emphasised the importance of ensuring that educational initiatives produce meaningful outcomes and equip students to play a role in the country’s future development.
