Ghana and the United Kingdom have strengthened their economic partnership through a new agreement between HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the British High Commission in Accra and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), aimed at improving Customs administration and supporting long-term economic growth.
‎‎The agreement forms part of the UK-Ghana Growth Partnership and will deepen cooperation through technical assistance, knowledge sharing and institutional support.
‎‎A key area of collaboration will be strengthening the GRA’s Post Clearance Audit function, which helps ensure that Customs declarations and transactions remain compliant after goods have been cleared.
‎‎The partnership is expected to improve Customs administration and strengthen the systems underpinning international trade between Ghana and the UK.
‎‎The collaboration also seeks to enhance the capacity of Ghana’s revenue administration through the exchange of expertise and technical knowledge between the two countries.
‎‎The agreement reflects the broader UK-Ghana commitment to creating stronger institutions and effective systems capable of supporting trade, investment and sustainable economic growth.
‎By strengthening cooperation between the two tax and Customs authorities, Ghana and the UK are seeking to build a more efficient and trusted trading environment while supporting the long-term objectives of the UK-Ghana Growth Partnership.
