The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) is working with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to finalise market-making rules aimed at improving liquidity in the debt capital market.

Mrs Levina Oppong Quainoo, a senior officer for the Ghana Fixed Income Market, disclosed this during a panel discussion on the theme, “Navigating the Debt Capital Markets: Regulatory Environment, Issuer Testimonials and Evolving Investor Priorities.”

‎‎She said finalising the market-making rules was one of the key initiatives being pursued to improve liquidity in the market.

‎‎Mrs Oppong Quainoo also highlighted successes recorded by the GSE’s Business Development team in bringing corporate issuers to the market.

‎‎She cited Kasapreko and Petrosol as companies that had accessed the market to issue corporate bonds.

‎‎According to her, the experience of these corporate bond issuers is now helping to promote the debt capital market, as they share their stories with other companies and encourage them to consider the market as a source of capital.

‎‎The development forms part of efforts to strengthen the debt capital market and encourage more companies to access financing through corporate bond issuance.
