Safaricom PLC and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) have continued efforts to strengthen Kenya’s capacity to combat cybercrime, financial crime, fraud and social engineering through specialised training and knowledge sharing.
Day Two of the training focused on building awareness and practical capabilities to strengthen safeguards for customer data and support efforts to strengthen Kenya’s financial ecosystem as the country works to exit the grey list.
Participants explored measures including data minimisation, digital identity, biometric authentication, transaction monitoring and AI-powered detection as tools for improving the security of customer information and digital financial services.
The training forms part of efforts to equip participants with practical knowledge to respond to increasingly sophisticated financial and cyber threats while maintaining digital trust.
Safaricom and the ODPP stressed the importance of collaboration between the private sector and law enforcement in building a safer and more resilient financial ecosystem.
The engagement is also intended to reinforce safeguards around customer data while strengthening the capacity to detect and respond to financial crime, fraud and social engineering.
