The Ministry of Health has convened the second meeting of a 25-member Technical Working Group tasked with developing Ghana’s National Maternal Mortality Action and Response Programme (MMARP) Roadmap for 2026–2030.
The meeting forms part of efforts to strengthen the country’s response to maternal deaths through coordinated interventions, effective monitoring and sustainable financing.
The Technical Working Group is mandated to develop the MMARP Roadmap 2026–2030, which will provide a strategic framework for addressing maternal mortality and improving maternal health outcomes across the country.
Key areas of work include defining strategic pillars and priority interventions, as well as developing implementation and monitoring and evaluation frameworks to guide the programme.
The group will also develop a sustainable financing strategy to support the implementation and long-term effectiveness of the roadmap.
The initiative is aligned with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of strengthening healthcare delivery and developing practical, locally driven solutions to reduce maternal deaths in Ghana.
The Ministry said the roadmap is expected to provide a coordinated approach to tackling the factors contributing to maternal mortality while strengthening accountability and the delivery of essential maternal healthcare services.
The 25-member Technical Working Group brings together stakeholders whose expertise will contribute to the development of the roadmap and its implementation framework.
