Interior Minister visits Accra Central, assures displaced families

‎During the visit, the Minister inspected the extent of the damage caused by the blaze and interacted with affected residents whose homes and belongings were destroyed.

‎‎Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak assured victims that government was taking immediate steps to provide relief and support to displaced families. He disclosed that arrangements were underway to secure temporary accommodation for all affected households while plans for the reconstruction of the damaged barracks are finalised.

‎The Minister further announced that victims would receive cash assistance and clothing to help them cope with the immediate challenges resulting from the disaster.

‎He added that the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) would provide additional relief items to support the affected families.

‎He reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of the victims and pledged that all necessary interventions would be implemented to restore normalcy to the community as quickly as possible.

‎The fire, which swept through the police barracks located opposite the Greater Accra Regional Headquarters, left several families displaced and caused extensive destruction to property.

‎Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the cause of the outbreak.

‎Government officials and emergency response agencies have since intensified efforts to provide assistance and assess the full impact of the incident.
