The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has commended Mr. Samuel Agyekum, Manager at the Regulatory Administration Division of the National Communications Authority (NCA), for his contributions during the recently held Regional Workshop on Telecommunication Service Quality in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Organised by ITU-T Study Group 12, the workshop attracted 90 participants from 22 countries across the continent, including representatives from regulatory agencies, Mobile Network Operators, Academia, and other ICT stakeholders.
The event focused on regulatory strategies, international standards, and practical tools for enhancing Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) in the telecommunications sector.
In a formal letter of commendation dated 24th July, 2025, the ITU acknowledged Mr. Agyekum’s outstanding leadership and the NCA’s contribution to the success of the workshop.
Mr. Agyekum served as one of the expert facilitators, and his presentations and engagements, based on Ghana’s practical regulatory framework and technical oversight, were instrumental in advancing discussions and sharing best practices with participating countries.
In a statement, the NCA extended its “heartfelt appreciation” to Mr. Agyekum for his professionalism and expertise, which have helped provide actionable recommendations to guide the future work of Study Group 12.
The NCA said it remains committed to supporting international collaboration and promoting excellence in telecommunications regulation and is proud of its staff’s role in shaping policy and knowledge at the global level.
