Ibrahim Misto, Chief Digital Officer, MTN challenges innovators to turn ideas into actions in Accra

MTN Ghana’s Chief Digital Officer, Ibrahim Misto, has urged participants at the MTN DigiFest 2026 Launch and Tech Fair in Accra to turn ideas and curiosity into practical solutions as technology continues to reshape how people live, work and interact with businesses.

‎Mr Misto said the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), FinTech, cloud technology, connectivity and data had made it increasingly difficult to predict what customer needs would look like in the next decade.

‎‎He said the uncertainty made innovation and collaboration essential to understanding and addressing future challenges.

‎‎“It’s hard to predict what the world will look like 10 years down the line. What will the future look like? What will the customer’s problems be? What will we be solving?” he asked.

‎‎Mr Misto said the answer to such questions would begin through platforms such as DigiFest, which create opportunities for participants to encounter new ideas, develop skills and collaborate with partners, communities, customers and colleagues.

‎‎He said activities during the festival would include market processes, events, conferences and immersive experiences aimed at bringing MTN closer to its customers.

‎‎According to him, the company would also demonstrate its capabilities and innovations across areas including gaming, streaming, television, applications, cloud and enterprise solutions.

‎Innovation beyond job roles

‎Mr Misto stressed that innovation should not be regarded as the responsibility of a particular department or function.

‎“I would say innovation is not restricted just to a role or a function you are in. Innovation is a process,” he said.

‎He explained that the process begins with asking a question, identifying a problem or recognising a pattern from a different perspective.

‎‎He added that innovation also required the courage and boldness to act on the ideas identified.

A call to build the future

‎Mr Misto challenged participants to imagine the future and translate their ideas into action.

‎‎“My ask to you is: have the future. Paint one idea and turn it into action,” he said.

‎‎He said the leaders and innovations being celebrated today had started with an idea or curiosity, adding that the future was built through such ideas being transformed into action.

‎The MTN DigiFest 2026 Launch and Tech Fair is providing a platform for participants to engage with emerging ideas, skills and technology while exploring how innovation can be applied to customer needs.
