President John Dramani Mahama has held talks with the Governor of Wisconsin, Tony Evers, at the Presidency in Accra, as the United States state seeks to strengthen trade and investment ties with Ghana.
The meeting formed part of Governor Evers’ trade mission to Ghana, during which he is leading a business delegation to explore commercial opportunities and deepen economic cooperation.
President Mahama said the visit reflected growing international confidence in Ghana’s economy following the successful completion of the country’s International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.
He outlined the government’s economic transformation agenda, highlighting the 24-Hour Economy programme and the newly established Accelerated Export Development Advisory Committee as key initiatives to boost productivity, expand exports and enhance Ghana’s competitiveness.
The President also expressed Ghana’s interest in developing partnerships with Wisconsin in agriculture and other strategic sectors, noting that such collaborations could support economic growth and create mutual opportunities for businesses in both jurisdictions.
Governor Evers reaffirmed Wisconsin’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and promoting the state as an attractive destination for investment and business expansion. He said the trade mission underscored Wisconsin’s interest in building lasting commercial relationships with Ghana.
The discussions focused on expanding trade, encouraging investment and identifying areas of collaboration that would deliver shared economic benefits for Ghana and Wisconsin. Both sides expressed optimism about strengthening bilateral business relations and creating opportunities for sustainable growth.
