Sam George seeks legal review of contracts signed under Ursula Owusu-Ekuful

The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George had written to the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Dominic Ayine, seeking legal advice on a number contracts he inherited from his predecessor, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful. 

In a letter dated February 12, 2025, the Ministry said the request is “in line with the President’s vision of zero tolerance for corruption and value for money on all public-private partnerships,” adding that the Minister is seeking the A-G’s legal opinion on the “terms, compliance, and viability” of the contracts.

The letter made specific mention of at least two specific contracts, namely, the commercialization of the e-Government Infrastructure Contract by Messrs Lebara Ghana Limited and Smart Infraco Ghana Limited, as well as the Design, Development and Implementation of the Common Platform for Traffic Monitoring, Revenue Assurance, Mobile Money Monitoring and Fraud Management by Messrs KelniGVG Limited.

The letter said this is just the first phase of legal reviews of contract signed at the Ministry prior to Sam George taking over, adding that the public will be kept in the loop on what the responses of the Attorney-General.
