Ghana’s most decorated hip-life artiste, Sarkodie has promises to include the Telecel brand name in his next single.Â
He made the promise at the public unveiling of the Telecel brand, which marked the final national level event in the rebranding of Vodafone Ghana to Telecel Ghana.
At the Telecel brand unveiling, Sarkodie was the surprised guest artiste. His unexpected emergence on stage got the ecstatic audience going berserk as he delivered one hit song after the other, as the audience danced and sang along throughout the performance.
At some point Sarkodie was in the middle of delivering one of his exciting raps, in which he had a line about him having a meeting with Tigo, a former telecom brand in Ghana, with whom he signed a brand ambassadorial contract.
But Sarkodie stopped a song immediately and said “no I can’t say Tigo at a Telecel event”.
He then tried to insert the word “Telecel” in place of Tigo but it did fit and so could not roll off his tongue the same way “Tigo” did.
So, Sarkodie resort to the audience and asked if he could have an abridged version of the work. He said “should we go for T-Cel….”, but the audience screamed “T-Vibes” and Sarkodie went with it.
He then promised to include the brand in his next single.
Meanwhile, Sarkodie applauded Telecel for being the first to get him to a morning event of that nature, which something he had always wanted to do but did not get the chance to, until the Telecel Ghana brand unveiling at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange.
“You have made a big entrance into Ghana by getting Sarkodie to come out for the first time on a morning to jam with you and for that alone I believe you are going to be a big brand in Ghana,” he said.
He then requested for a Telecel SIM card and promised to be a committed customer.
