The Tema Tank Farm (TTF), Ghana’s largest privately owned petroleum depot has supported the construction of the state-of-the-art library and magistrate court complex in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality.
The projects have received overwhelming admiration from the traditional leaders and people of the municipality.
The chiefs and people of the area praised the company’s management for commissioning the two state-of-the-art facilities on the same day, expressing their gratitude for the community-orientated efforts of the company.
”We are giving back to the community in which we are operating,” stated Edem Boni, Terminal Director of TTF, during the commissioning ceremony. “Our investigation revealed that the community needs a court to guarantee access to justice and a library to advance education,” he said.
TTF, a subsidiary of CH Group, recently set a record for 2,000 days without lost time injury, marking the first time in the petroleum downstream industry.
Former factory worker Nii Adjei believes a library complex will boost young people’s reading culture, and a fully furnished magistrate court will be a perfect venue for justice.
A student at one of the universities, Michael Addo, was overjoyed to see the facilities, particularly the library, unveiled. According to him, “It was very difficult, and sometimes impossible, to get a library to study in those days.” This is because there was no library nearby. But now that the TTF library has been put into service, that issue is resolved.
Residents praised a magistrate court built by a Ghanaian company, while others argued for expedited justice for businesses, preventing them from seeking assistance from neighbouring districts.
Speaking on behalf of the CH Group Foundation, which had collaborated with TTF, Jeremy Sackey praised the initiatives’ strong teamwork.
CH Group Foundation collaborated with Ghana Library Authority and Judicial Council to ensure library and court standards were met. They believe providing books for children will help them grow in knowledge, empowering them to thrive academically and beyond.
Our goal is very clear: to create the tools required to give underprivileged communities in Ghana and elsewhere access to high-quality education. With the help of our mission, we hope to revolutionise educational progress, initially in Ghanaian communities and subsequently throughout the continent.
