Tesla is set to launch a new self-driving app designed to make it simpler for owners to sign up for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software and also view statistics showing how regularly they use it.
Alongside this, it will also provide information about FSD itself, including multi-day streaks, adding a gamified twist to the driver-assistance experience.
‎‎In a post on X, the firm hinted at the updated self-driving app and a number of other new capabilities that will be part of its upcoming big software upgrade.

‎Launched in beta in late 2020, Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is a sophisticated driver assistance system that has undergone frequent revisions to fix issues and enhance performance and dependability. Driving manoeuvres including steering, lane changes and parking can be handled by the system, which is accessible with a $99 monthly subscription. Vehicles utilising the software are not fully autonomous because active driver supervision is still necessary.
‎Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, is attempting to establish the business as a robotics and AI powerhouse rather than only a carmaker. That mission includes FSD. Achieving “10 million active FSD subscriptions” by 2035 is one of the major “product goals” that Musk must meet in order to be fully compensated for his new $1 trillion compensation package.
‎Although it may not appear significant, the updated self-driving software has some weight in Tesla’s attempt to promote FSD usage. It takes a few steps to get to the right location, but Tesla drivers may now subscribe to FSD via the car’s touchscreen or mobile app.
‎‎Owners can subscribe with a single tap using the new app. The A14 chip, sometimes referred to as FSD Hardware 4.0, which started to be shipped in cars in January 2023, is the sole Tesla vehicle that owners can use this capability.
‎Tesla owners with FSD will receive a number of statistics in the upgraded self-driving software that are significantly more comprehensive than what they currently view. The total number of miles driven in relation to the percentage of miles driven utilising FSD is displayed to current FSD subscribers.
‎A few visualisations, including a bar chart showing the FSD usage, will be shown in this revised application. Additionally, it will monitor and show user “streaks,” which indicate the number of days in a row that FSD was utilised.
