The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has called on business leaders and policymakers to prioritise inclusive development, ethical leadership and innovation as essential pillars for transforming Ghana’s economy.
Speaking as Chairman at the 10th Ghana CEO Summit in Accra, Togbe Afede emphasised that Ghana’s progress would depend on leadership committed to addressing genuine national challenges through responsible governance and practical action.
According to him, the country’s development agenda must be driven by visionary leadership, integrity and strong institutions capable of creating opportunities that improve the lives of citizens across all sectors of society.
He stressed that both public and private institutions have a responsibility to promote productivity, competitiveness and sustainable economic growth, whilst ensuring that development benefits communities across the country.
Togbe Afede further urged leaders to adopt policies and initiatives that create employment opportunities, improve livelihoods and empower young people, noting that inclusive development remains critical to national transformation.
He explained that leadership should extend beyond the pursuit of profit and economic gain, adding that humanity, social responsibility and national progress must remain central to decision-making.
Highlighting the importance of technology and innovation, the traditional leader noted that countries which fail to adapt to global economic and technological trends risk being left behind in an increasingly competitive world.
He therefore called on Ghana to invest strategically in education, entrepreneurship and innovation in order to equip the youth with the skills and creativity required to develop solutions to emerging economic and social challenges.
Togbe Afede also underscored the importance of building resilient systems that support businesses, attract investment and maintain a peaceful environment in which economic activities can thrive.
He further called for unity and collective responsibility amongst leaders and citizens, stating that sustainable national development can only be achieved through collaboration and a shared commitment to Ghana’s progress.
The Agbogbomefia additionally encouraged business leaders to uphold ethical practices and transparency, stressing that trust and accountability are essential for long-term economic growth and investor confidence.
The 10th Ghana CEO Summit brought together business executives, entrepreneurs, policymakers and industry leaders to discuss strategies for accelerating economic growth, strengthening leadership and positioning Ghana as a competitive investment destination within Africa.
This year’s summit focused on leadership, innovation and economic transformation, with participants exploring practical strategies to promote inclusive and sustainable development across the country.
