Truecaller has selected Telna, a leader in multi-network eSIM technology, as its exclusive global connectivity partner for the newly launched travel eSIM service, marking a major step in the app’s expansion beyond caller identification and messaging into international mobile connectivity.
The partnership enables Truecaller to embed Telna’s travel eSIM platform and mobile connectivity services directly into its applications through Telna’s API-first connectivity infrastructure. As a result, users can access affordable, seamless mobile data connectivity across more than 190 countries.
Used by more than 500 million people worldwide for caller ID, spam protection and messaging, Truecaller is extending its trusted experience into international connectivity through Telna’s multi-network infrastructure. Through a fully integrated in-app experience, users can purchase and activate travel eSIMs and access local connectivity in more than 190 countries without relying on traditional roaming services or physical SIM cards.
For Truecaller, the partnership provides a fast route into the rapidly growing travel eSIM market without the complexity and capital investment associated with building telecom infrastructure. By leveraging Telna’s established platform and global carrier relationships, the company was able to launch a branded connectivity offering in a matter of weeks rather than years.
According to Kaleido Intelligence, annual spending on travel eSIM services is expected to exceed $10 billion from 2028 onwards, underscoring the scale of the opportunity.
Telna currently distributes more than five million eSIMs every month and carries close to five per cent of global roaming traffic, making it one of the largest independent eSIM platforms in the market. Through a single integration, partners gain access to Telna’s multi-network infrastructure, which delivers connectivity across more than 190 destinations worldwide.
Gregory Gundelfinger, founder and CEO of Telna, said: “Truecaller’s decision to select Telna as its global connectivity partner reflects the strength of the platform, infrastructure and API-first approach we have built. When a platform trusted by more than 500 million users chooses Telna to power its travel eSIM offering, it demonstrates the scale and reliability of our connectivity platform.
“Truecaller wanted to bring travel connectivity directly into its app, not embark on a multi-year telecom project. By combining its customer reach and trusted brand with Telna’s network infrastructure, carrier relationships and eSIM platform, we enabled the company to launch a seamless connectivity experience in weeks rather than years.”
The partnership also supports Truecaller’s broader super-app strategy, extending the range of services available beyond communications. By integrating travel eSIM capabilities directly into the Truecaller ecosystem, the company adds a new revenue-generating service that increases the everyday utility of the app for frequent travellers. Alongside services such as business messaging and payments, travel connectivity creates additional opportunities to strengthen engagement, improve customer retention and reduce churn.
For travellers, the service offers a simple way to stay connected without the cost and uncertainty of traditional roaming, with transparent pricing and coverage across more than 190 destinations. Because the service is embedded within Truecaller, users can access travel connectivity through a platform they already know and use.
Fredrik Kjell, COO at Truecaller, said: “Our users travel constantly, and staying connected abroad is a natural extension of the services they rely on. By working with Telna, we can offer international connectivity directly inside the app people already trust, giving them a simple and affordable way to stay connected wherever they go. As we continue to expand the Truecaller ecosystem, travel connectivity represents another valuable service that enhances the everyday usefulness of the platform while creating new opportunities for long-term growth.”
The travel eSIM service is currently available in more than 30 markets across Europe, North America, Africa and Asia-Pacific, with more countries rolling out through the rest of the year.
