Meta AI researcher Andrew Tulloch is leaving the company after the launch of its latest artificial intelligence products, according to Semafor, which cited a person briefed on the matter.
Tulloch delayed his departure until Meta successfully launched its new family of open-source AI models and its AI assistant, Muse, which was announced on Tuesday.
He joined Meta from Thinking Machine Labs and worked in the company’s TBD lab, which is at the centre of Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg’s AI strategy.
The lab is spearheaded by Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang.
Tulloch attracted attention during his tenure at Meta for being among the highest-paid employees in the technology industry.
The reason for his departure remains unclear, as does whether he plans to continue his AI research at another company.
