As part of its commitment to bridging the digital divide and improving customer experience in underserved communities, MTN Ghana has held a community engagement forum in Donkorkrom, located in the Afram Plains North District of the Eastern Region.

The forum focused on digital and financial inclusion, providing residents with essential knowledge on mobile money (MoMo) safety, digital tools, and updates on ongoing investments in local network infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, Georgina Fiagbenu, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, emphasised the telco’s resolve to support underserved communities:

“Our visit to Donkorkrom is a reflection of our commitment to serving all customers, especially those in communities that have been historically underserved. We are listening, investing, and working with urgency to improve the quality of service.”

Residents were taken through practical sessions on how to identify and avoid MoMo fraud, utilise MTN’s digital platforms for daily business and personal activities, and understand their rights as customers. The MTN team also responded to several questions about network performance, service accessibility, and future expansion plans for the area.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Donkorkrom, Hon. Kate Mawusi, commended MTN Ghana for selecting the community, describing the engagement as timely and impactful.

“This visit demonstrates your commitment to your customers. We are excited to have you here in Donkorkrom,” she said.

The Chief of Donkorkrom, Nana Akuamoah Boateng, also expressed appreciation, noting that it was the first time a corporate organisation had formally engaged the town in such a structured and inclusive manner.

“This initiative shows that MTN values its customers. We urge you to continue engaging with our community,” he added.

Donkorkrom, though rapidly evolving in digital needs, still faces infrastructure limitations, making the forum both relevant and strategic. MTN Ghana’s presence there underscores its mission to ensure inclusive and equitable access to telecommunications services.
