Students from the Telecommunications Engineering Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have gained valuable practical exposure to Ghana’s communications regulatory framework following an educational study visit to the National Communications Authority (NCA) Tower.
The visit, organised by the NCA, formed part of efforts to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice by providing students with first-hand knowledge of the country’s communications regulatory environment.
During the visit, the students were introduced to the Authority’s mandate, core functions and regulatory responsibilities in overseeing Ghana’s telecommunications, broadcasting and electronic communications sectors.
Officials of the NCA highlighted the critical role the Authority plays in ensuring efficient spectrum management, promoting fair competition, safeguarding consumer interests and facilitating the development of a robust communications ecosystem.
The students also had the opportunity to engage with technical experts and regulatory professionals, who shared insights into the operational and policy frameworks that guide the communications sector.
Discussions covered key industry trends, emerging technologies and the evolving challenges facing communications regulation in an increasingly digital world.
The educational tour provided participants with a practical perspective on the regulatory processes that underpin the delivery of communications services across the country.
