Chief Digital Officer of MTN Ghana, Ibrahim Mitso has highlighted the company’s growing role in supporting businesses with digital tools, infrastructure and innovation-driven solutions aimed at accelerating digital transformation across Ghana.

‎‎Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the MTN Digital Transformation Conference 2026, Mr Mitso said the event brought together enterprises, businesses, media partners and key stakeholders within the digital ecosystem mainly to demonstrate how MTN was enabling organisations to embrace technology-led transformation.

‎‎According to him, MTN is positioning itself beyond its traditional role as a telecommunications provider by offering platforms and tools that businesses can immediately deploy to improve operations, reach customers and drive growth.

‎“Today we showed tools like MTN Ads, how MTN can help businesses advertise their products and services to the millions of customers that we serve,” he said.

‎Mr Mitso explained that the company was also opening up its infrastructure through application programming interfaces (APIs), allowing businesses and developers to integrate MTN’s digital capabilities into their own operations and services.

‎‎He noted that these tools included website-building capabilities and other digital solutions designed to support enterprises at various stages of their digital transformation journey.

‎‎“MTN plays a key role in leading the digital transformation era and helping businesses to embrace the tools that we can provide to them,” he stated.

‎‎He added that the company’s focus was not only on introducing technology, but also on ensuring that businesses understood how to derive measurable value and returns on investment from digital adoption.

‎‎As part of the conference activities, MTN held a closed session with agencies and industry stakeholders to provide deeper insights into the practical application of its digital solutions and their potential business impact.

‎Mr Mitso said the company’s approach centred on providing businesses with immediate access to tools, shared infrastructure and MTN’s extensive customer reach.

‎‎“It is helping them with the tools that they can use not tomorrow, but immediately today,” he said.

‎‎He further revealed that the company had evolved from being solely a telecommunications operator into what he described as a “platform business”, with ambitions extending into multiple sectors of the digital economy.

‎‎Mr Mitso disclosed that MTN was increasingly investing in areas such as gaming, media and digital entertainment as part of its broader innovation strategy.

‎‎“We are playing into the gaming space, enabling gamers and developers within Ghana to excel. We are also into the media, launching our premium TV,” he said.

‎‎He said the company remained committed to driving innovation and digital transformation in Ghana through products and services aimed at improving the lives of customers and supporting the growth of businesses within the country’s digital ecosystem.
