The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations has distributed laptops to all regional ministers and Members of Parliament as part of preparations for the nationwide rollout of the One Million Coders Programme (OMCP).

In a Facebook post dated April 29, 2026, the Ministry described the move as a key milestone toward ensuring the smooth takeoff of Phase Two of the flagship digital skills initiative.

According to the Ministry, the laptops will be deployed at constituency-level training centres to support the implementation of the programme, which aims to equip one million Ghanaian youth with practical digital and coding skills.

The nationwide distribution is expected to strengthen coordination at the local level, with regional ministers playing a central role in driving the programme’s execution across their respective regions.

Officials say the initiative is designed to promote constituency-level ownership, ensuring that training is accessible and effectively delivered across the country.

With preparations nearing completion, Phase Two training centres are expected to become fully operational ahead of the broader nationwide rollout.

The One Million Coders Programme is a key pillar of the government’s digital transformation agenda, focused on enhancing employability, fostering innovation, and positioning Ghana’s youth to compete in the global digital economy.

The Ministry emphasised that the provision of laptops will support seamless training delivery and help create an enabling environment for participants as the programme expands nationwide.
