Gov’t, Stakeholders Fast-Track Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has intensified efforts to finalise the Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill, holding a high-level meeting with key stakeholders.

The Ministry led my the Minister, Samuel Nartey George met with consultants from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and the Vice President of Heritors Labs, Kofi Ocloo to review the bill ahead of laying it before Parliament.

The ministry is targeting May 2025 for activating the review process, ensuring the bill reaches Parliament before they go on recess.

The bill is a critical initiative aimed at fostering innovation and providing structural support for startups nationwide. During the meeting, Mr. Ocloo presented detailed evidence reports, offering valuable insights into Ghana’s innovation landscape.

These reports will serve as a foundational reference for shaping the bill.

To ensure comprehensive input, the Ministry has outlined a rigorous three-step review process, incorporating feedback at committee, zonal, and national levels before submission to Parliament.

Sam George said this bold legislative step is expected to position Ghana as a regional hub for innovation and startup development, driving economic transformation.
