The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has announced that, as part of the phased rollout of the government’s 24-hour economy programme for the downstream petroleum sector, 268 fuel stations, eight depots and two refineries in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Northern regions will be brought under the initiative.

‎Speaking at the launch of the 24-hour economy programme’s pilot phase in the downstream petroleum sector, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, Chief Executive of the NPA, emphasised the initiative’s revolutionary effects on fuel distribution, operational efficiency and economic activity.

‎‎”This programme will be implemented in stages, starting with a few facilities in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Northern areas of Ghana. We plan to operate in two oil refineries, cover 268 petrol stations and have eight depots.

‎‎”This will allow us to test systems, improve operational models and make sure the transition is adequate, secure and long-lasting.”

‎Goosie Tanoh, the presidential advisor on the government’s 24-hour economy plan, added that the pilot programme’s implementation in the downstream petroleum sector is expected to boost economic output and unlock productivity.
