The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GhIPSS), has appointed four females to executive leadership positions as part of a strategic move to strengthen the company’s capacity to deliver on its mandate and support its evolving growth priorities.
The four are Eunice Amewu Nyadu as Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Akosua Blay, Chief Business Officer (CBO), Juliet Ackah-Nyamike, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Mary Dei Sarpong, Chief Shared Services Officer (CSO).
A statement from GhIPSS said the four collectively possess extensive knowledge and a wealth of experience drawn from across the financial services industry, adding that their combined expertise will further strengthen GhIPSS’ capacity to deliver on its mandate as Ghana’s national payments infrastructure provider.
Eunice Amewu Nyadu (FCCA, UK) was the first Head of Finance at GhIPSS, and now the CFO, with oversight responsibility for Finance and Strategy.
The statement said she is a highly accomplished finance and strategy executive with a track record of building and scaling financial infrastructure platforms. Her expertise spans financial engineering, corporate governance, capital structuring, and strategic transformation within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
As the first Head of Finance at GhIPSS, Eunice led the design and implementation of the organisation’s finance and control architecture, underpinning the growth of Ghana’s
interoperable payments ecosystem.
In her current role, she is leading the financial and strategic transformation agenda to position GhIPSS as a next-generation payments infrastructure provider, driving investment, innovation, and ecosystem expansion across banks, fintechs, digital financial services providers and next generation ideas.
Akosua Blay has only been confirmed as Chief Business Officer following her tenure as Acting General Manager for Project and Business Development at GhIPSS.
The statement described her as a seasoned financial services and payments executive with over 30 years of professional experience, including 18 years in the payment systems sector. She brings expertise in business development, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of national payment solutions.
In her current role, the statement said, she will be responsible for business development and project-related initiatives. She is a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana.
Juliet Ackah-Nyamike, on the other hand, will have oversight responsibility for the Operations Department in a new role as COO.
She brings over two decades of leadership experience in digital payments, transactional banking, and card systems operations, with strong expertise in payment operations, settlement management, and digital banking service delivery.
Mary Dei Sarpong is the new CSSO, and she will lead the Shared Services portfolio at GhIPSS. Prior to her new appointment, she was the Head of the Partnerships and Bulk Payments Unit.
She brings over two decades of experience in the financial services industry and has played instrumental roles in advancing bulk payments, clearing operations, customer support, and financial inclusion initiatives through e-zwich. In this role, she will oversee administration and facilities management.
Commenting on the appointments, the Chief Executive of GhIPSS, Clara Arthur, noted: “I am happy to welcome Eunice, Akosua, Juliet and Mary to the GhIPSS Executive Management Team. Their appointments reflect a deliberate step towards strengthening our leadership structure to enable us achieve our strategic priorities and position GhIPSS for the next phase of the company’s growth.”
She expressed optimism that, with the support of the four ladies, GhIPSS will continue to drive innovation, enhance operational excellence, and deliver greater value to its stakeholders.
The statement said GhIPSS continues to play a central role in Ghana’s digital payments transformation by providing interoperable payment infrastructure that enables seamless transactions across banks, mobile money operators, and other financial service providers.
