OmniBSIC Bank has successfully staged the 8th edition of its flagship quarterly Health Walk, turning the University of Ghana Stadium into a bustling centre for fitness, business networking, and community engagement.

Held on Saturday, the event drew thousands of participants—from bank staff and loyal customers to vendors and community stakeholders—for an 11.3-kilometre wellness walk followed by Ghana’s largest quarterly vendor exhibition.

This edition marked notable growth, with more vendor booths than previous quarters, showcasing products and services ranging from automobiles and electronics to household goods and professional services. The fair provided significant commercial exposure and economic opportunities for participating businesses.

“What began as a wellness initiative has evolved into one of Ghana’s premier quarterly business engagement platforms,” said Akyaa Afreh Arhin Addo-Kufuor, Group Head of Legal and Recovery, Company Secretary, and Chairperson of the Health Walk Committee. “We provide free booth space to vendors – both customers and non-customers – creating a comprehensive marketplace where you’ll find everything from cars to household goods. The walk concludes the wellness component, but that’s when our business fair truly begins. This represents just the beginning of our impact.”

The Ghana Health Service endorsed the event’s public health benefits, with Mabel Kisiwa Asafo, Acting Director of the Health Promotion Division, noting that the Health Walk aligns perfectly with national disease prevention and health promotion objectives.

“Events like OmniBSIC’s Health Walk represent strategic interventions for disease prevention and health promotion,” she said, emphasising the combined benefits of physical activity, mental wellness, and social interaction.

Sponsors maximised the platform for brand activation and business development. Nana Yaw Essiaw, Key Account Executive at Kasapreko Company Limited, reported strong engagement with their flagship Awake brand.

“We are seeing strong patronage and meaningful business connections. The event has facilitated collaborations between businesses while serving the community’s wellness needs,” Essiaw stated.

Despite coinciding with one of Accra’s busiest weekends, the event maintained robust attendance, signalling its firm place in the community calendar.

“The response validates that we have created something people prioritise,” Mrs Addo-Kufuor observed. “Participants are requesting more frequent events, with some suggesting weekly walks. We are evaluating expansion options for the next quarter.”

Originally launched as an internal staff wellness programme, OmniBSIC’s Health Walk has grown into a signature corporate social responsibility platform—merging fitness, public health awareness, economic empowerment, and networking into one quarterly experience.

Bank leadership has hinted at expanded programming for future editions, with enhanced offerings under consideration for the next quarter.
