Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has announced that all 8,000 newly recruited health workers are expected to commence work by July as the government finalises the placement process.
Providing an update on the recruitment exercise, the Minister said efforts were underway to ensure a seamless integration of the recruits into the healthcare system. He expressed confidence that the outstanding administrative procedures would be completed before the end of the month.
“I do not want to commit to a specific date, but at the latest, I believe we should conclude the process by July,” Akandoh said. “Our expectation is that they will begin work in July.”
To support the ongoing exercise, the Ministry of Health is expected to publish the names of all successful applicants, along with details of the centres where they are required to attend interviews.
According to the Minister, the publication is intended to provide greater transparency and address concerns raised by applicants regarding interview venues and postings.
“We are going to publish all the names and indicate where they will be attending their interviews,” he stated, adding that successful candidates would be formally absorbed into the health service upon completion of the necessary procedures.
Akandoh further disclosed that the deployment strategy would prioritise rural and underserved communities, where shortages of healthcare personnel continue to place pressure on service delivery.
He noted that the exercise forms part of broader government efforts to strengthen the country’s healthcare system and improve access to quality health services across all regions.
