Google has announced that it is launching AI Mode, its conversational search experience, as a new way to browse the internet.
A statement from Google said, the introduction of AI Mode means that “clicking a link will now launch the webpage alongside AI Mode when you are using AI Mode on Chrome desktop.”
According to Google, the objective is to make it simpler to browse relevant websites, compare details and pose follow-up queries while maintaining the context of your search.
For instance, you can specify your needs in AI Mode and receive a variety of possibilities if you wish to buy a new coffee maker. After selecting one, you can use AI Mode to access the retailer’s website and pose targeted queries, such as “How easy is this to clean?” After then, AI Mode will respond to your queries using context from the page and other websites.
In a blog post, Google said, “Our early testers loved that they did not have to constantly switch tabs to get help with a comprehensive article or a long video.” “And they discovered that having the web and Search side-by-side helped them stay focused on their tasks while exploring helpful web pages.”
To include recent tabs in your search on Chrome desktop or mobile, touch the new “plus” menu in the search box on the “New Tab” page or in AI Mode. This allows you to incorporate context into your AI Mode searches by combining different tabs, content or photos.
For instance, you can add local hiking trails to your search and request comparable trails in a different area if you already have a few tabs open. Alternatively if you are preparing for a statistics test, you can ask for examples to demonstrate a topic by bringing in context from open tabs, lecture slides, class notes and more.
Google intends to extend the new AI Mode improvements to other areas (or location) in the future, although they are currently only accessible in the United States.
