Interior Minister joins President Mahama at Ghana-EU partnership dialogue to tackle crime, trade and migration

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has joined President John Dramani Mahama at the 2026 Ghana-European Union (EU) Partnership Dialogue currently taking place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra.

‎‎The high-level dialogue brings together government officials and representatives of the European Union to review the longstanding relationship between Ghana and the EU and explore avenues for deepening cooperation in key areas of mutual interest.

‎‎The meeting is expected to assess progress made under existing partnerships while identifying new opportunities to strengthen collaboration in governance, security, trade, migration and sustainable development.

‎As part of the programme, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak is scheduled to address a session on “Organised Crime, Illicit Trade and Migration”. His presentation will outline Ghana’s ongoing efforts to combat transnational organised crime, curb illicit trade and enhance border security.

‎‎The Interior Minister is also expected to highlight measures being implemented to strengthen law enforcement coordination, improve intelligence-sharing and promote safer migration pathways in line with Ghana’s national security priorities.

‎‎The 2026 Ghana-EU Partnership Dialogue underscores the commitment of both parties to maintaining strong bilateral relations and working together to address emerging regional and global challenges.

‎Participants are expected to deliberate on strategies aimed at fostering security, economic growth and sustainable development while reinforcing cooperation between Ghana and the European Union.
